I grew up on the waters of the Flint River and Lake Seminole in South Georgia. From the age of 5, I accompanied my family to the Coast on fishing trips to St George Island and St. Marks. By the age of 12 I was fishing and hunting Lake Seminole in my dad’s 13 foot Cherokee Classic. After college, I worked all over the U.S. with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service building watershed dams, cleaning up old mine sites, and responding to natural disasters. The Flood of 1994 brought me home to Georgia to work on flood damage on the Flint River. I spent the next three years working on flood reclamation in Georgia, Florida, and Alabama. I soon learned that it was time to be on the water full time doing what I love. I have hunted and fished from the Florida Keys to Eastern Shore of Maryland and in many states out west, but I returned home to South Georgia to combine my love for the outdoors with the beauty of Lake Seminole and the Forgotten Coast. I have over 30 years experience on the water, and have operated Southern Outdoor Expeditions Guide Service since 2001. When I’m not on the water with clients, chances are I am either in a boat or deer stand with at least one of my three children. They love the outdoors as much as I do. They accompany me on scouting trips, and I have a seven year old that already wants his captain’s license. I love teaching my kids about the outdoors and am happy to see that it will be a big part of their lives. I also look forward to sharing my experiences with my clients. It’s not always about the catch or kill; the outdoor experience should encompass everything that is going on around you from the sunrise on a cold crisp morning to good food enjoyed among friends at lunch. On Lake Seminole, you have the rich history of Indian settlements, military camps, and burial mounds. At the Coast, you have the Old Fort in St. Marks and the St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge. My family enjoys launching at the Lighthouse Pool at the St. Marks refuge. We always take time to visit the observation area and look around and always point this area out to clients, especially if they have children along for the trip. The history of the lighthouse, the birds, and the alligators – all adding to the experience of the trip – truly make it a Southern Outdoor Expedition. I look forward to experiencing an expedition you and your family.

 Sincerely,

Capt. Chris Sapp
